Priminister will not atten Road Show’
The Government of Bangladesh (GOB) has decided to arrange ‘Bangladesh Investment Conference and Road Show’ in London from 15 to 16 December this year, in Singapore from 25-26 January 2010 and in New York from 27-28 January 2010 on investment opportunity in power and energy sector of Bangladesh.
Priminister will not atten the Bangladesh Investment Conference and Road Show’ in London. But Adviser to the Honorable Prime Minister for Power and Energy Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury Bir Bikram, State Minister for Power and Energy Brig. Gen. (Retd.) Enamul Huq and Board of Investment Chairman Dr. S. A Samad will attend the conference. The inaugural ceremony will be held on 9 am local time in London followed by two presentation from Power Secretary Md. Abul Kalam Azad and Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairman A S M Alamgir Kabir on power sector of Bangladesh. One to one discussion with the investors will be held on the venue.
As power demand in Bangladesh has been overstripping generation capacity due to sustained economic growth (GDP growth rate around 6% since last 5 years), government has taken new initiatives to add around 4000 MW of power through private participation by 2015.
As part of the new initiatives, GOB has planned to install 3 combined cycle power plants of aggregated capacity 1125 MW, 2 peaking power plant of capacity 100 MW each, four imported coal based steam power plant of aggregated capacity 2000-2600 MW, renewable energy based power plant of capacity 110 MW altogether around 4000 MW and one LNG terminal of capacity around 3.5 million tones by 2015 on BOO basis to meet country’s increasing power demand.
Government of Bangladesh is inviting the potential investors of this sector to participate in the Road Show Conferences in London, New York and Singapore to explore the opportunity of investment in power and energy sector of Bangladesh.
